Not So Eye-Popping

You know how it is. You're watching the trailer for the upcoming movie. It looks like the perfect combination of laughter and action.
Then the too-familiar words flash across the screen.

In Eye-popping 3D
Ooooooooh...Shocker right there. In 3D? Didn't see that one coming.

Everything seems to be in 3D nowadays. Why?
Polls say that most people don't even like it. At Comic-Con they asked 450 people if they wanted The Hobbit to be 3D. Guess what? 450 people said NO.

I've heard of folks that even got sick after seeing a movie in the third dimension.

It ued to be fun. Things used to actually pop out at you. Now it's just a gimmick.
A movie in 3D is different than a 3D movie.

Don't even get me started on the glasses.

All-Star Cast

I'm so excited for Legend of the Guardians and I hope it's successful. Most people, upon seeing the trailer for the first time go, "But...But they're owls!"

No, really?

One good move was using "Kings and Queens" as their trailer song.
Another good thing they got going are the big names they rounded up.
Like so:

Hugo Weaving as Noctus/Grimble.

Geoffrey Rush as Ezylryb.

David Wenham as Digger (my personal favorite).

Helen Mirren as Nyra.

and Jay Laga'aia as Twilight

Here's more character posters for your benefit.

Instant Success

You know you're a good author when your book is opted to be made into a movie...Even before it comes out.

Tony DiTerlizzi, author of the much-loved "Spiderwick Chronicles" recently came out with a new series: "The Search for WondLa."
It's been out for only a few weeks.
And it's already going to be made into a movie.

I have yet to read it but I'm pretty sure it's going to be good. Obviously Hollywood figured the same thing.

The film adaptian will hit screens in 2013.
That's what I call success!

Eulalia Quotes II

"If'n dey don't open d'gates an' let us in fer a visit-"
Maudie interrupted. "Wait, don't tell me, you'll stamp your paws a lot, an' never speak to them again. right?"

Rangval winked at Gorath, remarking quietly, "Ah now, there's a pretty maid who's as brainy as she's beautiful. Ye couldn't do much better'n to stick with her, if'n I say so myself." Gorath winked back at the rogue squirrel. "I intend to!"

"Casting sword and sheild aside now, I stand/weary and forlorn,/in the silence of the woodlands, I will rest/until the dawn./Let me sleep and dream forever, of the golden/days of yore,/and those friends who marched off with me,/who'll return alas no more."

The battle was on. Maudie was everywhere at once, swinging a loaded sling at the vermin heads, stamping and kicking at paws that came over the top, yelling like a wildbeast. "Yaaarrr! Blood'n'vinegar, chaps!" Rangval, with a dagger in either paw, scuttled, crouching crablike as he circled the rim, stabbing left and right. "Arrah, step up, ye villains, an' meet the rogue!" Osbil saw a shrew take a spear through his heart, the Guosim chieftan ran to fill the gap as his comrade fell. His rapier weaved a flashing pattern in the ceaseless drizzle as he carved and thrust, howling aloud. "S'death to ye, vermin, an' I'm the best to bring it!"

Gorath the Flame was following his fate.

"Huh, these confounded heroic types, you'd think instead o' rushin' off to face their fate, they'd jolly well sit still an' let the Fate come to them, wot!"

"But remember the old saying, It ain't the uniform that counts, 'tis the warrior who wears it, eh!"

The crimson westering sun cast long shadows on the three badgers. Gorath and salixa took Asheye's paws, allowing him to lead them into the mountain fortress of Salamandastron. Maudie borrowed Martin's sword from Orkwill, it flashed scarlet in the last rays as the shores resounded to the mass roar of a single word...
"Eulaliaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Allan & Ellen

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a major Robin Hood fan. Not the TV series (though they are pretty entertaining), but of the books. I adore the way they run rings around the sheriff. But most of all I love the romance in it.

If you're not fond of romance, refrain from rolling your eyes, please.

I'm not talking about Marian and Robin. Sure, they're a pretty sweet couple. But my favorite couple in the book is one that's almost been forced into obscurity: Allan a Dale and Ellen. I seriously love those two.

Ellen, the daughter of a knight, falls in love with the poor minstrel Allan a Dale. But her legal guardian chases Allan away, and forces Ellen to marry one called Sir Richard. Tragic, isn't it? So of course Allan gets help from the famed outlaw of Sherwood. They crash the wedding and save the day. And instead of Ellen being forced to marry Sir Richard, she gets to marry Allan.

Never heard of it? You have now.
